Wednesday Prayer & Catechism

The members of First OPC Sunnyvale gather for dinner.
“In everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” (Philippians 4:6)

As a church, we set aside time on Wednesday evenings to pray for each other, for our ministry, and for needs around us. While prayer is the primary focus, we also share a meal, hold a short Bible study, and provide classes for children. These gatherings are an encouragement in the middle of a busy week. Whether you’re part of our church family or just visiting, you’re welcome to join us.

Shared meal

The evening begins with a shared meal at 6:00pm. Everyone is welcome, and no RSVP is needed. No need to bring anything, either! Families in the church take turns providing the meal for the whole group.

Bible Study and Prayer

At 7:15, the meeting starts. Some people join the meeting by Zoom. The pastor leads a brief Bible study, and then we take a few minutes to gather prayer requests. We use the rest of the time to pray, finishing up between 8:15 and 8:30pm.

Classes for Kids

While the adults pray together, we offer two classes for kids. Younger kids, up to age 6, enjoy a Bible story and a craft. Older kids, ages 7-12, are taught by a pastor through the questions and answers from the Westminster Shorter Catechism.
